Guanacaste Wooohooo

So much to say so much to say!!!! Okay sooo last week was great our recent convert got married to a member and her wedding was stunning.
The Bride Girl
I had divisions again with the one and only Hermana Peters. It was such a memorable experience. I love her and I look up to her in so many ways. We always have soo much to catch up on but she really said exactly what I needed to hear. We taught some great people and found a lot of people that have potential.
My companion contacted her first bus it was so cute!!! After that we saw soooo many miracles. We were talking to an investigators friend and it started getting reeeally interesting. So we sat down on some rocks that were on the side of the road and started answering her questions. She started asking about coffee and eternal marriage. So we knew that she had experience with the church before.
After our investigator left and she opened up and told us that she actually got married in our church but then the missionaries left so she didn’t get baptized. She explain how much she wants to get sealed to her family and so we told her that conditions the Lord expects from us to receive that blessing. I know this family will eventually get baptized.
REAL FOOD
So this week we had a zone meeting with president it was great. I love that man!! Ahh but I’m sooo embarrassed. So we do this thing where he tests us if we know the articles of faith and prophets and such and so before he got there the assistants were practicing and it got to me and my mind went blank!! I was supposed to say Gordon B Hinckley but I said Harold B Hinckley. Ahh so ya that was a humiliating moment. Then president got there so he did the same thing and it got to me again and I got sooo nervous. I was supposed to say Gordon B Hinckley again but my mind just went blank again. So so so bad. He is the prophet of my youth. I’m the worst. That night I wrote in my journal Gordon B Hinckley like 200 times.
The next day I got a text from the assistants saying that President and his wife would be coming to our area to do visits with us. It was such a great day. Hermana Laboriel was baptized when she was 9 years old so we went to one of investigators who is 10 years old and loooooves the church. She always comes to church. It was so cute we had a family night with her and some members and we taught a lesson on tithing and the next day she came to our missionary activity with 100 colons (which is like 20 cents). I love her. So Hermana Laboriel challenged her to forget about herself and follow the example Christ has set for us. She said that she will get baptized this next week.
They're so tiny! I love it!
The next day was Emiseldas and guillerminas baptism. Ahhh I love them. I feel bad I haven’t been able to explain much about them. But they are amazing. I’ve had some of the most spiritual moments with them. They are so humble and they really were so ready to receive the gospel.
So on Saturday was their baptism. As we were about to start President walked in. Surprise. But it was good. The baptism was so beautiful. Not a lot of people could come because it was mother’s day here but they didn’t want to change the date because they wanted to get baptized together como mom and daughter on mother’s day.
After, President bore his testimony. Woow. The Spirit was soooo strong!!! He committed them to never go inactive and to never miss taking the sacrament. The ward was very moved by him coming to the baptism since a mission president hasn’t come to that ward for a baptism for 30 years. Hermana Laboriel (President’s wife) came with us this week to visit our investigators.
So on Sunday I got a call from the assistants telling me I had changes. They said that I would be going to the prettiest area in the mission (that’s what everyone says about every area they serve). Sooo now I am in a place called Guanacaste, Liberia.

It's so hot here but I’m so excited to work. Hermana Peters served here and has told me it’s like a totally different mission. I’ve been in the city my whole mission so it was weird to see the beach. Ahh when I walked off the bus it really like took my breath away. It’s soooo hot. I’m nervous because I’m like a sister training leader for 2 zones. But I know that it was time for a change. I was thinking on Sunday how happy and comfortable I was in Ciudad Colon and I knew that that’s just not how the mission is so it was time for a challenge.
New companion. She was companions with Hermana Peters before! She is from Columbia. Woooohooo!
I’m excited to learn from my new companion. She is from Columbia. She’s a convert and is the only member in her family. We actually will be ending our missions the same change. I already love her so much!!!!
Last night was really rough with saying goodbye and Hermana Amador had a really hard time but I know that taking control of our area will push her and help her be better!! This week we will be hearing from an apostle. I’m soooo excited :)

I really love this work so much and can’t imagine a better thing to be involved in. I love the Book of Mormon. There isn’t another book on the earth that brings me more happiness. I love being able to ask my Heavenly Father if it’s true over and over again. Because every time I do my testimony gets stronger. I know God lives and want us to be happy. Not just a temporal happiness but an eternal happiness. If we trust Him and His plan He will give us that happiness :)
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

(Kendra- Last week I got an email from Trish Peters, Hermana Peters mom. Here is what she sent.)
Kendra,
I just wanted to share this letter from Rachel so you could see from someone else's eyes how wonderful your daughter is doing on her mission!  Thank you for raising such a great daughter!  You are wonderful!
Trish
Hello family,
Well here we are again, another week has come and gone super fast. i cant believe how fast time goes here in the mission. And i really just want it to all slow down..
This past week we saw sooo many miracles, but now just us, all the sisters here in the zone!! Hermana Garcia and I were so happy to see all the sisters having so much success. They were all finding a lot of people to teach, but people that acutally want to listen. It is really cool for me to be able to talk to the sisters every night, and to hear their miracles. I love it!! And i really am learning more from them every single day.
This past week i got to be companions with my best friend again :):) HERMANA FOWLER IS THE BEST MISSIONARY I KNOW. That´s about all i can say. Haha i LOVE working with her because eveytime i learn so much from her. I really think that President should just put us together as companions because we´d probably baptize all of Costa Rica.. ;) haha but i am grateful to at least have had the chance to be with her once more because we´re pretty sure she´s going to have transfers the next week... :( so i had to make sure we were together once more :) but really when i was with her we were able to see so many miracles, plus it was nice to be able to talk to her. We both were talking about how we can really feel a change inside of us, and that when we go back home, we dont want to go back to the way we were before. So ya we were trunky for a little bit, but were able to set some goals together to help one another stay strong when we get home. It was great!

Another great week in the mission field :) I just want to apologize for not being the best at writing group emails. It’s haaaard. Okay sooo this week... We are teaching two people whose names are Emiselda and Guillermina. They are cuter than cute!! Guillermina is Emiselda’s mom. I’m not exaggerating when I say that Guillermina is literally half of my height. She is so tiny and so adorable. She tells me every time I’m with her, “God bless you,” like 100 times. They are struggling with money but have soo much faith that the Lord will bless them and are so dedicated to their baptismal date which is the 15th of August.
On Saturday we taught them and we asked Emiselda if she knew for herself if the Book of Mormon is true. She paused for a minute and then said with a huge smile on her face, “I’ve always known it was true.” We testified of what she said and then we changed her baptismal date to a week earlier.
Maricel is like my best friend in Costa Rica. She is so awesome I love
her. But I get frustrated too because I know that the best gift I can give her is the gospel and she just doesn’t want to accept it. But I’ve been studying the parable of the sower and it changed my point of view and how there really are some who are ready and waiting for the gospel and some who are in the process. It’s sooo hot in my area right now. I hope I don’t get sent to a hot zone. But luckily I’ve only gotten sunburnt one time. But I think my tan
lines are permanent.
Right now we are working with a lot of less actives. There is a member who is also like a best friend to me and it’s been soo hard for me to not give her things. She got fired and has absolutely nothing. And when we were in her house someone came over and she literally gave them the little that she has. It really was a moment I’ll never forget. Sometimes we get so caught up in our lives that we forget the promise the Lord gives us when we give what we have. I love this work and I can’t imagine my life without the gospel.
   I love you all!!!
