Griseyda's Baptism
This week was Griseyda's Baptism!! The Lord truly softened her heart. It was such a testimony builder to watch her act so firmly to the prompting she had. She used to drink coffee every day at least 7 times and quit drinking coffee in one day. Her baptism was so beautiful. She said that the water was bitter cold but she went under water it felt warm. After she bore her testimony and I really wish you all could have been there to feel how strong the spirit was. She said that she doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about the church but that will come over time. What she does know is that this is what the Lord wanted her to do and from this day on she will be a different person because she is now a member of the only true church on the earth. After she finished her testimony everyone was dead silent. I know the Lord lives and he is preparing his children.
This week we had an experience with one of our investigators, well we gave him to the elders to teach because he kept trying to flirt with us. So the elders had been trying to call him for like 2 weeks (his baptism was supposed to be this next weekend) and his phone was broken or something so anyway we kept joking whenever we saw a big guy without teeth hey looks there’s Rafael. Anyway we were walking and this time it was actually him. The elders weren’t answering so we just set up an appointment for the next day. But the elders had another appointment that same hour so we ended up teaching him with the Bishop. The spirit was very strong during that lesson. At the end he said that he needs to be baptized asap. So we called the zone leaders and we had a member go get them from their area and Rafael had his interview. So the next morning Rafael was baptized. I’m out of time sorry but I love you all so much I’m happy happy happy happy!!!!!!

May 18, 2015

On Saturday we were supposed to watch Meet the Mormons in the church. So all week we were invited everyone to come see it and we got everyone way pumped. And then Friday night the Bishop called and said that we didn’t have rights to show it publicly. So we changed the movie to The Testaments. (Meet the Mormons from the olden times) But it still was great.
Sooo.. one of our investigators that we have been teaching for quite a while named Jorge was in the church the whole day with the youth. He had his attendance and interview and everything but just wanted to be baptized with his mom. So anywho, we were in the church and he came up to me and said Hermana Fowler can I be baptized today? Best question ever!!! DUH!! So we hurried and got clothes and luckily our district leader is in our same ward so he interviewed him again and the bishop interviewed him and his mom and all was good. The baptism was absolutely incredible. Aldo (the member that I’m setting Carolina up with) spoke and Amalia too. After Amalia said it’s all your fault I’m so upset with you because she got really emotional in front of everyone. But it seriously was such a spiritual baptism. Carolina and Jorge bore their testimonies after which just filled my heart with sooo much joy!!
On Sunday my companion and I were fasting for our investigators and during sacrament meeting we were praying very specifically for one of our investigators named Griseyda. So that night we had an appointment with her. She lives in a different area but has been attending here. So we have been calling her to teach her and on Tuesday we invited her to be baptized this 6th of June and she felt like it was way too fast but said that she would pray about it. so this Sunday we were teaching her and it was raining soooo hard so we could hardly hear and I was trying hard to speak clearly but she couldn’t understand me for the life of her. My companion started laughing at me and I was just more frustrated so we just sat in silence for a second with our heads down and then the rain started to slow down and she said, “I need to tell you guys something. Yesterday I had a dream and I need to be baptized now.” She explained that she has never had this desire to be baptized in her life but that this is what she needs to do. So we set her date for the 30th of May and she said, “No, I can’t wait. I need to be baptized this week.”
Wooow. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. We received a very fast answer to our fast. I can honestly say without a doubt that I knew her long before I came to this earth. The Lord knows who he wants in this church and he will bring them to us. We should never lose faith in that promise. I know that if we make sacrifices for the Lord we will bless us. Im so weak and I have so much to learn. My Spanish is rough and I don’t know everything but what I do know is that this is the Lord’s church. He is aware of every one of his children. He will do His part when we do ours. I love you all and I’m so grateful to have a wonderful family that makes it hard to be away from. I pray for you and know that the Lord wants to hear for you too! :)

CONGRATS SAM!!!!! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU FOR GRADUATING!!! I LOVE YOU!!!

May 11, 2015

Hola Familia :) I still can’t believe I actually talked to you guys yesterday!!! It was so good to see you all (besides Sam :()!! I love my family so much!! I always feel like I have millions of things to say to you guys but then when writing time or skyping time comes my mind goes blank!
This week was really good! It’s been really fun to have Elders here in the same ward. It’s been a lot of help with teaching everyone that we want to.
So this last Monday after I wrote you guys I went to the mission office to pick up a few things we needed and the assistants found me and said that they needed to talk to me :/ scared me half to death. Na but he just told me that the next day I needed to be in the mission office again because I’m going to be the retention person for the new west mission. So I got to go to the meeting for all the leaders of the mission. It was a very eye opening experience. I got to learn A LOT!! President Wilkinson is the best mission president ever!!! He is a very blunt person. And calls us out pretty hard.. but with love :) He started off by asking why everyone seemed so nervous. This month was rough in the mission so everyone was scared to show him their numbers. So he went on to explain that he is just a weak man and that we should not fear him but should have feared God every night when we finished the day and didn’t accomplish our goals. I learned the importance of always having in mind our monthly goals, weekly goals, daily goals, and hourly goals. It was an amazing meeting and so fun to see a few people from the mtc.
Carolinia is doing sooo well. Her baptism is next week. She really is such an angel. It was so funny because this last Monday I planned for us to have a family night in a members house with her. The member is about the same age as her and I think she is a little interested. So when it was all over the member dropped us all off but obviously dropped her off last. Smarty :) And today we have another family night. I love being a love doctor :) Can’t wait to plan the wed.
On Sunday the Relief Society president asked if there was anyone that could help her with feeding us missionaries and after people kept standing up and bearing their testimonies that if we make this little sacrifice we will never lack food on our table. After everyone swarmed us asking what time we don’t have food. We are in very good hands :)
Sorry I don’t have much time but I just can’t explain how good it was to talk to your guys yesterday. That was the first time I’ve laughed really hard for a pretty long time. I love you all and want to hear from you guys whenever you can :)

Mother's Day!!!

HI :) HAPPY CASI MOTHER’S DAY KENJ!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOOOOUU YOU’RE THE BEST MOM ANY GIRL COULD ASK FOR!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello family!! How is everything going?? Please email me!! This week was great and we got to see a lot of miracles.
On Thursday the Bishop called and said that we had an investigator in the church because she thought the activity was today (which was really the next day). So we ran to the church to find Maricel. I LOVE HER. I feel like she’s my sister. She always sends texts saying please don’t leave you are my best friend in Costa Rica. I’d be totally fine with serving the rest of my mission in Ciudad Colon.
Anyway we taught her with the bishop and it was an amazing lesson. I really feel like in heaven we promised this family we would come find them in Costa Rica and baptism them! There are lots of things for them to understand but they really are such amazing investigators. I’ll send a pic sometime :)
It’s been interesting having a set of elders in our ward. Poor things they don’t know anything. Their first day when they were about to go home we asked them if they knew where they lived and they said. “Oh ya duuh.” Lies. They got lost for like a half an hour and couldn’t call us because they didn’t have a phone yet. (or beds or pillows and food or nada.)
We had an activity for the ward and it turned out waay good. Lots of investigators came and everyone had such a fun time. Uh oh no more time I’m sorry I didn’t get to talk much but I’ll tell you guys everything on Sunday!! I LOVE YOU!!!! Pura Vida!!!
